“Men in Black” star Will Smith backs higher taxes…until he hears France’s proposed rate! Rob Houglum LLMedia Tuesday, May 15, 2012
Will Smith has been a vocal advocate of Barack Obama and his plan to extend taxes on the welathy, but during a visit to France he was questioned if he would support a seventy five percent tax rate exactly what is being suggested by new Socialist President of France.
Business Insider explains, "The Hollywood star enthusiastically preached the book of paying one's fair share of taxes in a French television interview this weekend."
"But when asked about his take on the tax policy of French president-elect Franois Hollande, Smith's was startled mad by the suggestion of a seventy five % tax level on those earning above 1 million annually," reported BI's Alex Biles.
"I have no problem with Will Smith," Glenn announced at the start of the video.
Glenn explained that Smith shares the same opinion as many in Hollywood that the rich need to pay more in taxes.
In the interview, Smith replies with a "God Bless America" and a laugh on hearing President-elect Hollande's suggested rate of 75%.
"You can see the actual shock of that number," Stu recounted. "( Smith ) isn't a tax expert in Western european economics. It strikes him as surprising as it should strike you."
